Dealer Profile
Blue Hawk Audio Video
The HARMAN Luxury Audio Group is proud to have some of the best high-end consumer electronics partners across the globe. Each month, we have the pleasure of learning a little bit more about one of our dealers or distributors.
Blue Hawk Audio Video, with locations in Bismarck and Dickinson, North Dakota (United States) got its start in 2004 as a small audio and satellite company - Blue Hawk Satellite & Sound - and was named after the local college mascot at Dickinson State University (Blue Hawks). As they’ve grown over the years, they set aside the dishes and picked up video, security/surveillance, luxury/commercial AV, permanently installed lighting systems, and 12v sales and installation.
The mission at Blue Hawk is simple: Offer a level of passion, enthusiasm, and support that is unknown to mankind.
We recently caught up with Tanner Kessel with a few questions:
How many people are on the team?
Our team is comprised of 13 awesome people. Mike, Jarad, Nick, Peter, Thomas, Tanner, Dylan, Jacob, Jaxon, Max, Murphy, Hoyt and Jen.
Thoughts on the importance of training?
At Blue Hawk we see training as one of the multiple pillars of success. Without product knowledge, it can be difficult to convey a value to the potential client. Although training is important, it isn’t everything. Relationships, building trust, and overall enthusiasm are other forces we deem as important, if not more important, than just “product” training.
What do you like most about HARMAN Luxury Audio products and which lines do you feature?
We love the vast array of products the Luxury Audio Group offers. Being able to offer turn-key solutions to clients from a brand that excels at craftsmanship and support is paramount to our success. We’ve offered every line since we picked up the brand. Lexicon, JBL, Mark Levinson, ARCAM and Revel have been staples at Blue Hawk for over a decade.
How do you think the luxury audio industry is currently doing?
We are quite diverse in the offerings we have, but the luxury audio portion for us has shown continued growth year-over-year. Covid made things interesting for us but it really allowed our clients to engage with the systems we were offering and see much greater value. From there, it has taken off like a slow burning fire of interest and intrigue into our local markets.
You have the floor. Anything else you want to share with us that you would like the world to know?
I’d like to take a second and commend HARMAN with the factory representative we’ve had the last few years. I cannot say enough good things about “Mustang” Sammy Scialdone. Sam has gone above and beyond during his tenure as our rep. From answering the phone at any given hour (as much as we know Sam loves staying up late!), to making the trek out to sunny, beautiful, breathtaking North Dakota, treating us to candlelight chicken wing dinners, and just being an all-around good dude. I’m sure his colleagues feel the same way.
